Week 16 - 22 January 2023
Mercury turns direct this week but things will still be off to a slow start...
Hello, Star Scholars, and welcome to another week in astrology…
This week, Mercury, the Planet of Communication, will go direct, although its shadow period lingers until 7 February, so you will need to wait for communication, travel chaos and extreme weather to improve completely.
As Mars is also now direct, this should be an easier week, although you might find that not everything falls into place as you might hope, so you will need to continue to be patient a little while longer.
When it comes to relationships, however, this is a lucky time as Jupiter is in Aries and Venus will meet Saturn, and that brings luck to many people.
Relationships now have a fated feel and you could get engaged or make a commitment at this time which goes the distance in the future. This luck will not last, so make sure you use it this week.
New Moon in Aquarius…
There is also a New Moon on Saturday in the sign of Aquarius, the Water Carrier, and many astrologers are saying that this is the real start to the year after a few slow weeks.

Since this new moon is in future-focused, experimental Aquarius, you can bet that plans set under this lunation will take a much more desirable shape as 2023 progresses. Meanwhile, jot down notes in your Notes app, or just give yourself a few weeks to tie up loose ends and sit with your feelings about The Year That Twitter Imploded. (Which we realize is just the tip of the insanity iceberg that was 2022.)

Self-reflection is key during this new moon. Thinking about your unique traits that separate you from others and working on aligning yourself with your authentic self (weird and eccentric parts included) can help you actualize your ideal lifestyle in 2023.
And now for a look at the week according to our favourite astrologers…
AstroStyle:
At last! Communication and technology planet Mercury corrects course this Wednesday, January 18 after an irksome and disruptive retrograde that began on December 29, 2022. In goal-oriented Capricorn, backspinning Mercury made it tough to commit to clear resolutions. From today forward, that changes, so get those 2023 resolutions in your crosshairs.
Boho Astro:
Be patient and prepare for reboots, relaunches, fresh starts and exciting beginnings! Mercury is direct from Thursday, the Sun transits into Aquarius on Friday, there’s a New Moon on Saturday night and then on Sunday it’s Chinese New Year. Inspiring quote for the week comes from birthday great the divine Dolly Parton, “I wake up with new dreams every day.”
Vice:
Love planet Venus meets with Saturn, the planet of commitments on Sunday, January 22, at 5:12 PM. Conversations about boundaries, standards, and expectations in relationships can be initiated. Feelings of rejection are rationalized. Uranus, the planet of rebellion, ends its retrograde on Sunday at 5:58 PM. Uranian themes like radicalism, impulsivity, and genius are emphasized.
